The Minister of Justice, Mr Lateef Fagbemi, has urged experienced legal luminaries to emulate Mr Yusuf Ali (SAN) and document their expertise and experience to guide future practitioners.

Fagbemi made the call at the public presentation of two books written by Ali and Dr Mubarak Adekilekun.

The books are titled “The Supreme Court and Jurisprudence of the Right to Fair Hearing in and Nigeria” and “Public Private Partnership Nigeria.”

He said that the title of the books speaks to some critical national issues that has continued to shape national discuss regarding cooperate governance in Nigeria.

“Through this publication, Mr Yusuf Ali has further deployed his rich legal skills and knowledge beyond public interest advocacy.

“He has moved to academic research, legal research and jurisprudence and scholarship ultimately to deplore his deep knowledge of the law to attain justice, fairness and economic development for the benefit of humanity.

“He is not only an advocate of the law but also a n advocate of social, communal, human development in furtherance of the dictates of Almighty God whom he serves with passion.

“Today you have deservedly earned the title of learned author in addition to other feathers on your cap, I urged you not to relent in making more of this academic advancement in other recumbent areas of the law.

“I also urged other distinguished colleagues to also work towards contributing to the learning and practice of law in Nigeria so that upcoming generation of legal practitioners can be mentored and guided by your experience and expertise in the legal profession,” he said.

Fagbemi congratulated the authors saying that the books are worthy contributions to Nigeria’s jurisprudence and will support the propagation of legal knowledge and practice.

He described them as men of uncommon passion for advocacy, master strategists and a high ranking members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA)

According to the minister, the books will provide veritable references guide in legal education, practice and corporate governance in Nigeria.

He said it will contribute immensely to the development and advancement of jurisprudence and corporate governance issues.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Mr Michael Ohiani who reviewed the book titled Public Private Partnership in Nigeria said that has 125 pages, divided into three chapters.

He described the book as an essential guide for all stakeholders as it brings to the fore, the definition of PPP and its legal framework.

The reviewer said that chapter one of the book speaks to the seven conditions for effective PPP which include, define arrangement between the private and the public actors, risk sharing, investment, management among others.

Ohiani said that the chapter two focuses on the legal and regulatory bodies and the role each institute play in a PPP arrangement.

The DG said that the chapter three of the book elaborates on the continental approach to PPP explaining how countries like Kenya and South Africa with various degrees of infrastructural deficit are using PPP to fill the gap.

He urged all practitioners, public officials, private actors and all other stakeholders to take advantage of the book as it will serves as a guide.

In his remarks, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Dr Abdulahi Ganduje congratulated the authors for the books.

He thanked them for the knowledge impacted on practitioners, government of dials and private sector actors.

The former Governor of Kano state said that the book will serve as a reservoir of knowledge that will continue to educate and enlighten the general public.

Speaking on behalf of the authors, Mr Yusuf Ali said that they are grateful to all who took at time to be a part of the launch.

He said that besides the authors, so many other persons contributed to make the book a reality and they will remain externally grateful. (NAN)
