Obosi Monarch, Igwe Chidunem

Obosi momarch, Igwe Chidubem Iweka111 of Anambra State, has said that the Obiora festival in community represents a time for the people to give thanks to God and forgive those who may have wronged them.
Igwe Iweka made the remark during his celebration of this year”s Iwaji festival, known as Obiora, at his palace.
“Obiora is the period of time when we give thanks to God for his manifold blessings for us; and it is the time when we forgive those, who have wronged us,” he said.
The royal father also thanked God for the equable weather condition on the Iwaji Day, which made it possible for natives and non-natives of Obosi to participate in the festival.
He thanked God for his immense blessings and enjoined his subjects to live peaceably with one another.
Earlier, Bishop Chuka Agwuegbo, had said that it was more economical to worship God than to worship other gods, and urged Christians to accept Jesus Christ into their lives as our personal Lord and Saviour.
He reiterated the need for people to remember to give God His due duringharvest as it is God who gives us power to make wealth.
In his speech, the President-General of the Obosi Development Union(ODU), Barrister Chimezie Obi, said that the development of Obosi town was dependent on right leadership.
Obi prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the slain predecessor, Engr. Ikechukwu Okolo.
During the festival, red-cap chiefs who are members of the ruling cabinet in Obosi, took turns to dance the traditional dance, as demanded by Obosi tradition.
Among those, who danced fluidly to the drum-beats before doing obeisance to Igwe Chidubem Iweka111, were Chief Mike Ajegbo, Ede Obosi; Chief G. C Osakwe, Odu Obosi; Chief Chiedu Uyamadu, Odogwu Obosi; Dr. Ndudi Muonagor, Igweoba Obosi; Chief Onyeka Oguegbu, Ojiudo Obosi; Chief Emeka Onwuekwe, Ogidi Obosi; among others.
Guests from within and outside Obosi showered the Igwe Chidubem with gifts and felicitated him on his celebration of the Iwaji/Obiora festival.
Masquerades and dance groups entertained the people who thronged the palace of Igwe Chidubem Iweka111 with songs, dances, and acrobatic displays.
