Benue Police Spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene
Suspected armed Fulani herdsmen yesterday, Sunday, October 29, 2023 launched two different attacks, killing about seven persons in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.
The herdsmen, reportedly numbering about 10, attacked Tse Gamber in Sengev Council Ward in the early hours, killing four persons.
A report by The SUPREME quoted a source who pleaded anonymity as saying: “Nagi, Mbachohon Council Ward, a settlement along Naka-Agagbe road was also attacked in the evening of yesterday, killing three persons and injuring many others.”
“As at the time of filling this report last night, the dead bodies of those killed were yet to be removed for fear of being attacked,” the report said.
Spokesperson of Benue State Police Command, SP Catherine Sewuese Anene, who could not officially confirm the number of deaths, said it is her village that was attacked, and that, “three of my cousins were killed”.
