NAF war jets
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
Residents of Osumoghu in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Thursday fled their community over fear of attacks following air strikes by Nigeria Air Force (NAF).
NAF had on Tuesday this week bombed some areas of the community suspected to be camps of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and their armed affiliate, Eastern Security Network (ESN).
Edward Gabkwet, the spokesperson of NAF in a press statement said the strikes were able to hit the target, causing the terrorists to take off.
He explained that the airstrikes came on the heels of an intelligence report that the terrorists plan to conduct attacks in the localities.
The, indigenes of the community however started fleeing the community in drives on Thursday for fear that the terrorists may regroup and attack them.
According to a source, “Our people are leaving the community now. There are rumours that the terrorists are regrouping, and there are likelihood that with anger, any one they find would be their target.
“Those people are heartless. They do not even know who their brothers are; that is the main reason no one wants to take chances with them.
“I live here in Awka, but my people in the village have all left. It’s really a scary situation.”
