Chairman of Labour Party (LP) in Abia State, Ceekay Igara, has given an insight into the murder and beheading of Zachary Nmaduka alias Power Zack M, Campaign Director of the party during the 2023 general elections in Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State.

He told newsmen earlier today: “I have spoken with the Chairman of our party in the LGA and he confirmed it. He said it might not be unconnected with insecurity because the man was strong in the fight against insecurity and cultism in that region.”

The incident, according to Igara, occurred on Tuesday night, September 12, 2023.

Meanwhile, the police command in Abia has confirmed the killing of the 70-year-old LP chieftain who hailed from Ezieke Akpukpa Uturu.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, said in a statement on Thursday in Aba that the deceased was violently attacked, shot, and beheaded by unidentified assailants at a drinking joint in Amelechi Akpukpa Community.

“Upon receiving this distressing information, a joint team comprising police and army personnel was swiftly dispatched to the scene.

“Tragically, they recovered Nmaduka’s lifeless body.

“Photographic evidence was captured at the scene, and the deceased’s remains were promptly evacuated and deposited at Marist Mortuary Uturu,” Chinaka said, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The PPRO said investigations to unravel the killers of the LP chieftain was on going.
