National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu
A group, Effium Community Development Union in Ebonyi State, has called on the Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, relevant security A
agencies and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to order the arrest, investigation and prosecution of some “misguided” elders and elites of Uffiom in the community for what it termed “dissident act” of purportedly issuing quit notice to Effium indigenes of Ezza Ezekuna extraction during the recent visit of Effium Community by the Retired Bishop Michael Okoro – led Peace Committee on Effium crisis.
The Peace Committee was set up by the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State to resolve the lingering communal crisis in Effium Community of Ohaukwu LGA of the state.
This was made known in a statement signed by the Chairman of Effium Community Development Union, Chief Chukwu Nwefuru, and the Secretary, Mr. Onwudiwe Olo.
The community condemned the quit notice which the video clip is said to be trending on the Internet; and described the act of Uffiom people as an affront on the Nigerian constitution, the powers of the Governor of Ebonyi State in whom all lands in Ebonyi State was vested; and on the constitutional and customary rights of Effium indigenes of Ezza Ezekuna extraction as enacted in both the Land Use Act and the 1999 CFRN.
Effium Community of Ebonyi State has been engulfed by war which has defied the Federal Government peace intervention and consumed thousands of lives of women, children and other vulnerable groups as well as property worth billions of naira. (Daily Independent)
