OndoGovernor Oluwarotimi Akeredoluhas proven critics wrong by performing his first official duties less than 48 hours after he returned from medical vacation.

Governor Akeredolu assented to thebill creating 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

The bill was presented to the Governor for assent by Speaker Oladiji Olamide, during a brief ceremony.

With the establishment of the LCDAs, the number of local councils in the State rose to 51.

A statement by Chief Press Secretary to Governor Akeredolu, Richard Olatunde, explained the signing of the bill into law was in fulfillment of Governor Akeredolu’s campaign promises as well as addressing the aspirations of the people for enhanced grassroots development.

Akeredolu also thanked the people for the show of love and affections during his battles.

“Your outpour of love wrapped in prayers, kind words, cheering messages, affectionate support as well as countless display of varied forms of brotherliness during my recovery process were heart-lifting.

“The love and prayers were, indeed, potent enhancers which aided my recovery and deepened my abiding faith in God and service to humanity,” he said.

Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa said the return of Governor Akeredolu to work after a medical leave was a rare and commendable commitment to the mandate of the people of the State.

Aiyedatiwa, who had acted as Governor, said Akeredolu was in constant touch, which shows his concerns for the welfare of the people of the State.

He said: “Mr. Governor was in touch with us throughout that period and that was why we continued to assure the people of the State that there was no cause for alarm over his health.

“That Mr. Governor has resumed duties immediately after returning to the country is a testament to his commitment to the mandate given to him twice by the people of Ondo State and his determination to work for them till the last day of his administration.

“As we all welcome back Mr. Governor to office, I pray that God Almighty will continue to protect, guide and grant him strength as he continues to lead the good people of Ondo State towards transformational development,” he added.(The Nation)
