Anambra govt signs MOU for development of 30 hectares of land

The Anambra State Government on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with another indigenous firm for the development of 30 hectares of land at the Awka New Layout.

The MoU was signed by Governor Willie Obiano at the Governor’s Lodge Amawbia in Awka South Local Government Area of the day.

The indigenous firm, Dozzy Investment Limited, a subsidiary of Dozzy Group, has the capacity to develop and manage property, which is mainly housing development.

Dozzy Group is expected to build four-bedroom detached duplexes, five-bedroom detached duplexes with a two-room auxiliary buildings, among others.

Signing the MOU, Obiano explained the need for the provision of decent accommodation for Anambra indigenes as well as other non indigenes in the state as the state expands.

He however expressed joy that the project to be cited in Awka capital territory will be in accord with the three flyovers being constructed within the capital which he added will help give the state capital a befitting look.

Obiano also urged investors to build high rise buildings since the state soil texture will contain them.

Earlier in his speech, the chairman of ANSIPPA and the traditional ruler of Umuoji, Igwe Cyril Enweze, explained that the total investment is N9.28b out of which government’s contribution amounts to one point two eight billion naira while the developer will invest N8b.

In his speech, the executive chairman of Dozzy Group, Dr. Daniel Chukwudozie, noted that the state is now a hub for business activities due to the enabling environment provided by the governor especially in terms of security.

The Commissioner for Housing, Engineer Frank Offor, on his part maintained that Anambra state is fast taking over in the influx of investors because of the secure environment experienced in te state.

Lending his voice, the Managing Director Awka Capital Development Authority Mr. Mike Okonkwo, added that Governor Obiano gave them mandate to transform the state into the Dubai of Africa.
