An electrocuted body of a suspected vandal was on Monday morning discovered at Amawbia town in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, lying close to the transformer.

Information has it that the yet to be identified man had come with his gang members to vandalize electrical wire installations at a transformer in front of a hotel in Amawbia but got unlucky.

The gang members had cashed in on the five days power outage in major cities in Anambra recently to go on a stealing spree.

However the deceased misfortune came calling when the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) restored power at about 12 midnight and he got electrocuted.

It was also learnt that the gang members on noticing that their colleague has been electrocuted took off with the wires they had already vandalized abandoning him to his fate.

Though the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, is yet to confirm the report, men of the Anambra Police Command were seen at the scene of the incident.
