The United Nations Population Fund has vowed to support Kaduna State Ministry for Human Resources and Social Development in the prevention of Gender Based Violence and empowerment programmes for women, child marriage and other social issues that fall under the ministry.
The UN team led by the Programme Coordinator, Kaduna Decentralized Office, Loide Amkongo made this known during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner Human Resources and Social Development, Hajia Rabi Salisu, in her office, Wednesday in Kaduna.
Loide said she and her colleagues were in the commissioner’s office to congratulate her on her appointment and also to encourage the Commissioner of their support particularly in the prevention of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and empowerment programmes for women, child marriage and other social issues that fall under the ministry.
The commissioner while expressing appreciation for the visit, also thanked the UN for their contributions especially in the area of GBV, maternal morbidity and child mortality, VVF and many other interventions.
“We also appreciate the UN Population Funds for always lending their support and for fighting and protecting the rights of women, children and young girls”, she added.
