NILDS DG, Prof Sulaiman

The National Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) will hold a two-day international women conference geared towards empowering women and shaping governance in Nigeria.
The programme aimed at marking the 2023 International Women’s Day has been scheduled the 23-24 of August with its theme: “Women Representation in Governance in Nigeria, Issues, Challenges and the way forward,” will commence at 9 am daily, at NAF Conference Centre, Ahmadu Bello Way, Jabi Abuja.
The Special Guest of honour at the occasion include Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the President, along with Senate President, Obong Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Tajudeen Abbas.
According to the Convener and Director- General of NILDS, Professor Abubakar Olarenwaju Sulaiman, “the Conference would be a platform for diverse stakeholders to come together to discuss critical issues surrounding women participation and representation in governance in Nigeria.
Erelu Bisi Fayemi, a former Ekiti State First Lady and President, African Women Development Fund, will deliver the key note address.
Other participants include women Politicians, female Parliamentarians from Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya and Uganda, as well as Civil Society Organisations, along with other key stakeholders.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is set aside to deliberate on women issues through symposium, seminars and conferences, among many others.
