Minister-designate Nyesom Wike documenting ahead of the inauguration on Monday
No fewer than 30of the 45 ministers-designate yesterday completed their documentation in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Abuja ,ahead of their inauguration tomorrow by President Bola Tinubu.
The rest are expected to go through the process today.
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister designate Nyesom Wike;that of Marine and Blue Economy Bunmi Tunji-Ojo;Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation,Betty Edu;and Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar were among the 30 who processed their documents yesterday.
The exercise got underway at about 10am according to a source.
“More than 30ministers-designate have so far done the documentation process today (yesterday). When we finish with the people inside, then we can close. I’m sure before 2pm tomorrow, if they come on time, you know they come at their own time, we should be done,” the source said.
“It’s not possible to have all of the 45 ministers-designate at the same time, so by the time we close at about 4pm with today’s process, we’ll take off with those who will not get their processes done with today. It will continue on Sunday from 10am.
“They are expected to come along with some documents, including CVs, birth certificates or court declaration of age papers, two passport photographs and a citation speech, for those who will want their citations read.
The Director of Information at the OSGF, Willie Bassey, confirmed theexercise in a terse noticeon X (formerly Twitter),saying“Ministers-designate commence their documentation at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Abuja. Exercise on-going.”
It was gathered that each minister -designate is allowed to invite three guests to the swearing in scheduled for the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Nation also gathered that security has been beefed up around the FCT ahead of the ceremony.
A police source said yesterday in Abuja that it isnormal to comb and secure the territory “ on the approach of an event of that significance.”
