FRSC personnel on patrol

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna State Command, says it is set to introduce 24-hour patrol in the metropolitan areas of the state.
Kabiru Yusuf Nadabo, the State Sector Commander, while on a courtesy visit to Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council on Wednesday, said all logistic arrangement to commence the operation has been concluded.
He explained that the 24-hour patrol would checkmate unruly drivers with road unworthy vehicles on transit through the city whose risky and dangerous driving could endanger other road users especially after nightfall.
He said: “The danger of having vehicles without serviceable and proper headlights on our highways at night cannot be overemphasized due to the disaster they could cause.
“I have identified about 29 junctions which could be described as hot spots within the metropolis which need adequate measures taken to prevent frequent crashes of vehicles around these spots.
“I will roll out my men to ensure the city metropolitan areas and environs are adequately patrolled to avert possible road crash as a result of flouting safety rules and regulations so that highways within the state metropolis are made safe for users”.
Nadabo reiterated his resolve to partner with the media to educate and enlighten the public on safety management, rules and regulations of using the highways, the need for safe driving and ensuring automobiles are roadworthy.
“I am here to build and solidify good relationship and sustainable synergy with journalists in the state so they will spread the message and gospel of safety to the general public”, he emphasised.
The Sector Commander called on members of the public, particularly drivers who may have been unlawfully treated, to report their travails through the proper channel such as the media.
Chairman NUJ Kaduna State Council, Comrade Asma’u Yawo Halilu, in her welcome remarks, while applauding the Sector Commander for extending a hand of fellowship to the council, said the media would continue to support the command in aggressive sensitization of the pubic safe driving.
