Ogun State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in session
A witness, Olalekan Odesanya, has told the Ogun State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta that the election in his polling unit was canceled due to disruption, wondering how the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) issued a result for his polling unit.
Odesanya was one of the witnesses called by counsel for the second respondent, Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Odesanya, who said he voted at Polling Unit 002, Wesley Primary School, Oke Eri, in Ijebu-North East Local Government Area of the state, testified before the tribunal that no result was recorded by the electoral umpire because the election was disrupted by individuals who were allegedly sharing credit cards to voters.
However, Odesanya expressed surprise when his attention was drawn to a certified true copy of the Form EC8A of his polling unit by the counsel for the petitioner, Gordy Uche.
Uche asked Odesanya to take a look at the result belonging to his unit, in which the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 139 and the All Progressives Congress (APC) 66 votes.
Responding, Odesanya said the result shown to him was for Wesley Primary School, his polling unit, saying, “but no result was declared. This must be a fake result.” Yes, it shows Wesley Primary School, but I don’t know about it, there was disruption.”
Uche also showed a copy of Form EC40G issued by INEC to the witness, where it was reportedly written that votes were counted in the polling unit, but the result was disallowed due to overvoting.
But, Odesanya insisted the election was brought to an abrupt end when some individuals sharing cards stormed the unit. He said he collected a copy of the card and cashed out the money therein later. (Nigerian Tribune)
