The life of a young Nigerian medical doctor has been brutally terminated after a faulty elevator crashed and crushed her to death. The tragedy occurred yesterday night, Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at theGeneral Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island, suddenly ending the life of the victim,Dr. Diaso Vwaere.

News Expresslearnt that the Babcock University (Ogun State) graduate had only two weeks to complete her housemanship when she met her untimely death.

“It’s a sad story.Dr. Diaso was hungry and ordered food.She was on the ninth floor when the dispatch rider arrived and she entered the elevator to go downstairs to pick her food. However the elevator crashed and crushed her. She was the lone occupant,” a reliable source at the hospital toldNews Express.

“The whole thing was just crazy. We heard a very loud noise and then started hearing groaning by someone saying, ‘Help! Help!!’ It happened around 7:30 p.m. and it took over one hour to open the elevator and evacuate her. By then she had lost a lot of blood and died around 9:00 p.m. after vain attempts by senior medical personnel on duty,” the source added.

News Expresslearntthat the elevator had been faulty for a long time and that repeated complaints had been made to the hospital management about it but it opted for periodic repair of the elevator rather than outright replacement.
