The two-week sit-at-home order by Simon Ikpa, the self-acclaimed factional leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has flopped in Enugu State on Tuesday.

Banks, markets, shops, petrol stations and other public institutions all opened for businesses as individuals went about their normal endeavours without fear.

Also, motorists, tricycle operators and Okada riders were in the streets moving people from one destination to another.

The Nation, whichh monitored the situation in Enugu, observed that security operatives were stationed in strategic places, roads, markets and streets.

There was no sign of observance of the sit-at-home as residents ignored the order and moved about their normal businesses.

Those who spoke to The Nation, said the two-week sit-at-home was reckless and an attempt by Ekpa play with their lives as he wished and inflict more hardship on them.

“Though we have ended the Monday sit-at-home in Enugu, the effect has already done more damage to the people. This new order will amount to emasculating the people of the Southeast economically.

“I think Ekpa only wanted to test our resolve to continue to be afraid if his violence. I think today has shown that we can’t tolerate all that anymore,” a resident, Dr Sly Okpala said. (The Nation)
