Armed bandits
Armed bandits on Sunday kidnapped a Medical Doctor attached to the General Hospital, Sakera in the Ugbaam council ward of Ukum Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue state, Dr. Asema Msuega.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benue State Command, SP Sewuese Anene who confirmed the incident, added that an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
The bandits who kidnapped the doctor at about 1pm also kidnapped another woman alongside the doctor.
Dr. Msuega was abducted while on his way to supervise the ongoing State Malaria Control (SMC) programme at the Family Support Programme (FSP), Uyoo.
It was reported that patients who were already gathered at the Health facility and waiting for the arrival of the doctor were informed that some unknown gunmen had kidnapped some persons.
Following the hint that some persons were kidnapped, one of the patients put a call through to the victim, asking of his whereabouts.
It was further learnt that Dr Msuega replied that he didn’t know where he was because he was blindfolded with a piece of cloth.
However, when they later tried his lines again, he could not be reached and subsequently his phone was switched off. (Daily Independent)
