Two residents of Salanta community in Kano State, Alhaji Saminu Shehu Muhd and Alhaji Tasiu Shehu Muhd have filed suits before the Federal High Court Kano, seeking the sum of N50 million each as damages against Kano State Government for marking their residences for demolition.

Justice Simon Amobeda on Friday, granted exparte application restraining Kano State Attorney General and 12 others from encroaching, trespassing, entering, invading, demolition or revoking the applicants’ titles or doing any other act in respect of the applicants’ properties on No 41 and 43 located at Salanta along BUK Road, Kano.

When the case resumed for hearing of the motion on notice on Monday, the counsel to Attorney General, Kano State Government, KNUPDA and others, Barrister Lamido Abba Soron dinki, filed motion for extension of time to file court processes out of time.

Justice Simon Amobeda granted the leave as prayed.

Thereafter, Barrister soron dinki, intended to move preliminary objection against the applicant, consequently, Professor Nasiru Aliyu informed the court that Nigeria Police, Inspector General, NSCDC and other respondents were neither in court nor represented.

In his ruling, the presiding judge, adjourned the case to 12thJuly, 2023 for hearing and ordered the hearing notice to be served on the respondents.

Our Correspondent gathered that in the two separate trials, Applicants include Alhaji Saminu Shehu Muhd and Alhaji Tasiu Shehu Muhd.

While on the other hand, the respondents include: Kano State Attorney General, Solicitor General Kano State, Governor of Kano State, Bureau for Land Management and KNUPDA

Others are Nigeria Police Force, Inspector General, Commissioner of Police Kano State, NSCDC, Commandant General NSCDC and Commandant NSCDC Kano Command. (New Telegraph)
