The Delta State Governorship Petition Tribunal in Asaba on Monday threatened to invoke the relevant laws against the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ovie Omo-Agege, if he fails to regularise the documents sought to tender before it by July 11.

Earlier reportssaid that the three-man tribunal headed by Justice C.H. Ahuchaogu gave the threat at the resumed hearing of the APC candidate’s petition against the election of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Justice Ahuchaogu, who adjourned the hearing on the petition till July 11, 2023, for a definite hearing, warned that if the petitioners are unable to conclude the regularisation of the documents to be tendered, the tribunal would invoke the relevant sections of the law against them.

Our reporter also reports that the tribunal had earlier in the hearing adjourned sitting briefly for 40 minutes to enable the petitioners to regularise the documents.

Earlier, A.K. Osawota, counsel to the former deputy president of the Senate, had made futile attempts to tender more documents before the tribunal.

Osawota, who was represented by Bello Abu, asked the court for adjournment due to the inability to pull through the regularisation process. (Daily Trust)
