The kinsmen of former Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo have showered encomiums on him as they welcomed him back home after eight years of serving the country.

Osinbajo who hails from Ikenne in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State was welcomed back home at a public thanksgiving and appreciation reception held on Sunday.

The event which was organised by the Ikenne Development Association, had in attendance governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Godwin Obaseki (Edo) and former Secretary to the Federal Government, Boss Mustapha.

Abiodun in his remarks, described the former Vice President as a man of impeccable character whose eight years in office engendered positive development to the entire country.

The governor likened Osinbajo’s trail blazing records in good governance and public administration to that of the former Premier of Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo who also hailed from Ikenne.

Commending the former Vice President for his unwavering loyalty to President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, Abiodun noted that Osinbajo had demonstrated uncommon virtues in serving the nation.

In their separate remarks, Diri, Obaseki and Mustapha described Osinbajo as a detribalised man who served the nation meritoriously, adding that Nigerians would continue to appreciate his valuable contributions to some of the major reforms targeted at rebranding the nation’s socio-economic development.

The Chairman, Ogun State Traditional Council and the Akarigbo of Remo land, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, described Osinbajo as the best Vice President the nation ever produced, noting that he was a greatest export of Remoland to the seat of power.

Responding, Osinbajo said he was overwhelmed by the reception and thanked Nigerians for appreciating his contributions to the growth of the nation during his days in office. (New Telegraph)
