Ex-Biafran warlord, Colonel Assam Nsudo
The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has expressed shock over the death of ex-Biafran warlord, Colonel Assam Nsudo.
The organization described Nsudo as a hero of the Biafran war, a soldier and gentleman of repute.
In a press statement on Saturday issued by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Secretary-General
Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the Ohaneze Ndigbo pledged to offer scholarships to his children and rebuild his Awka Ibom residence.
The document in part stated that, “He (Nsudo) fought at the defunct Biafran Ikot Ekpene Sector and many sectors of the Biafran war. As a brilliant soldier he assisted Gen. Philip Effiong and Col. Joe Achuzie to end the war. Ohanaeze will offer scholarships to his children and help rebuild his house in Akwa Ibom.
“He hailed from Akwa Ibom State. Ndigbo commiserated with Col Nsudo’s family and the Akwa Ibom State Government over this shocking death.
“Col Nsudor should be honored by Igbo states and all states that were part of Biafra and a monument named after him”. (Saturday Independent)
