The Ondo State Police Command, on Friday, said it had commenced investigation into the death of a woman, Alhaja Kadijat Falekulo.
The 70-year-old Falekulo was killed by some unknown persons in her room in Sabo Area of Ondo town, Ondo State.
A machete cut was said to have been seen on her neck, which indicated that the deceased was murdered.
A source said the assailant went to the deceased’s residence under the guise of buying foodstuff from her.
The source said, “The gunmen saidthey wanted to buy foodstuff from the woman and as she got out to attend to them, suddenly they brought out a matchet and cut her at the neck and after that, they stole her jewellery.”
According to the source, after committing the act, the hoodlums allegedly attempted to set the room ablaze but were not successful.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident, said investigations had begun. (The PUNCH)
