The founder of First City Monument Bank, Subomi Balogun died on Friday.
He was said to have died in a London hospital.

1.Chief Michael Olasubomi “Subomi” Balogun was born in Ijebu-Ode, to Muslim parents on March 9, 1934.
2.He was 89.
3.He was the founder of First City Merchant Bank, a company that later became the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) group.
4.Balogun was a long time member of the council of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
5.Balogun converted to Christianity while in secondary school.
6.He graduated from Igbobi College and studied Law at the London School of Economics.
7.Before leaving for Europe, he briefly worked as a teacher.
8.As a student in London, Balogun regularly attended fellowships and had the opportunity to meet some noted Nigerians such as Yakubu Gowon before the latter was president.
9.After earning his law degree, he returned to Nigeria to join the Ministry of Justice, Western Region.
10.From the regional Ministry of Justice where he was a Crown Counsel, Balogun found a new post as a Parliamentary Counsel in the Federal Ministry of Justice.
11.After the January 1966 coup, he joined the Nigerian Industrial Development Bank.
