The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), which will form a new government in Kano State on May 29, has accused the son of outgoing Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of illegal procurement and sale of public property.

The party alleged that Abba Ganduje violated the State Public Procurement Code to procure a landed property at N10 million and sold it at a whopping N300 million.

Addressing journalists on the development, the Chairman, Government Transition Committee of NNPP, Dr. Abdullahi Bichi, lamented that the outgoing government mortgaged the future of Kano people.

The former Chairman of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), who doubles as leader of Committee on Recovery of Public Assets Subcommittee set up by the incoming government, said Ganduje grossly violated all known laws in the procurement process.

Bichi said: “This is vandalism. They are vandalising and uprooting every structure available in the state. This is not good for a government that was given eight years, but has now resorted to these unpatriotic actions.

“After serving for eight years, why is Ganduje vandalising the structures of the state? Why is he selling everything to himself and his cronies? We are aware that this place was sold to his son at less than N10 million and the boy had since sold the place at N300 million.”

He, however, warned that the incoming government would not hesitate to recover all the properties that had been sold illegally by Ganduje’s administration and prosecute anyone involved. Kano Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Musa Lawal, denied knowledge of the transaction; hence, he could not comment on it. (Text, excluding headline: The Guardian)
