Three people have died in a communal clash between two communities in Mokwa local government area of Niger State.
The communities are Eti Sheshi and Eppa in Mokwa local government area.
The communal crisis, which escalated over the weekend, has been ongoing for four years as a result of land being claimed by the Eppa community but contested by the Eti Sheshi community.
It was learnt the head of Mokwa, Muhammadu Shaba, was stabbed severally while his cars and palace were vandalised by youths from Eti Sheshi.
The youths from Eti Sheshi were said to have attacked and injured several others and destroyed several properties, houses, and public infrastructure, including the Mokwa General Hospital in Eppa community.
Residents of Eppa Community have raised concerns over the continuous attacks by youths from Eti Sheshi calling on the government and security agencies to intervene in the dispute and arrest the culprits.
Two of the residents of Eppa Community, Abubakar Ndatsu Alhassan and Salihu Ishaq Eppa lamented that despite the intervention by the Council Chairman, the situation has continued to deteriorate. (The Nation)
