NAPASW National President Emeritus Lucky OO Ukueku
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
National President Emeritus of the National Association of Presidential Amnesty Scholarship Students Worldwide (NAPASW), Snr Comr. Lucky O.O Ukueku, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has no right to keep the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, in detention after the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja had granted him bail.
“He’s not in the position to revoke Kanu’s bail that has been granted by the court of law,” Ukueku said in a statement issued on Thursday.
He claimed that, “The Igbos are the problem of themselves”, asking: “If they don’t trust themselves, who else will now trust them?”
“Nnamdi Kanu agitation is for the betterment of the Eastern Region, before he was hijacked by hoodlum.
“If the East are united, together they can get it right. In the sense that, they will collectively place their demands before the federal government in a peace accord.
“Nigeria has become a laughing stock before our neighbouring countries and to the whole world. Everything about the country is dying slowly,” Ukueku lamented.
While dismissing the judiciary as corrupt, Ukueku added: “INEC is gone, security has turned to something else and politics has turned to the business of the day.
“Let me use this medium to call on our President, who doesn’t bother about his people that have been killed and kidnapped on a daily basis in Benue State, Bono State, Zamfara State and other states.
“His only concern is how to jet out of the country when he feels like and to give deaf ears on the issues that have been bedeviling the country.
“At this point, I’m calling on the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, not to emulate the footsteps of the outgoing President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. My opinion is that as far am concerned, he remains the worst President Nigeria has produced. Reason: He has taken us far back.
“Our President-Elect, should do well, to change the narratives for a better change. Not the change from good to worst ever. When all prices of things in Nigeria has turned to ×3 in this present administration.
“According to Muammar Gaddafi, once a ruler becomes religious, it becomes impossible for you to debate with him. Once someone rules in the name of religion, your lives become hell,” Ukueku said.
He appealed to President Buhari to free Nnamdi Kanu, saying that the gesture will add to his legacy as one of his achievements.
