IGP, Usman Baba
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba Ahmed, has directed immediate investigations of alleged inhuman actions of the traditional ruler of Adakam Amumara Autonomous Community, Ezinihitte Mbaise Council of Imo State, Eze Ositadimma Nwokocha.
The directive followed public outcry and petitions to the police high command by some members of the community.
In a Save-Our-Soul (SOS) letter, dated April 5, addressed to the IGP, the people of Okpanku Village, in Adakam Amumara Community, lamented the overbearing high-handedness of the monarch.
They accused the monarch of frequently using the services of unknown armed men to assault, harass and terrorise them and other members of the community.
Acting on the petition, the IGP, through a letter dated April 18, and addressed to Imo Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Barde, directed that the complaints and grievances raised by the people be investigated.
The letter, which was signed by the Principal Staff Officer of the IGP, CSP Idris Abubakar, The Guardian gathered, has since been transmitted to the state police command. (Text, excluding headline: The Guardian)
