The Federal Government said N1bn has been earmarked in the 2023 budget for the upgrade of 13 Federal hospitals across the country.
Prince Clem Agba, Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, stated this during his inspection tour of projects in Esan Central Senatorial District of Edo State.
Agba, who expressed satisfaction on the upgrade of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, said President Muhammadu Buhari would continue to provide basic infrastructure across all six geo-political zones in the country.
He explained that the Federal Government had provided N150m to the hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic for the purchase of equipment to upgrade the hospital.
The minister expressed satisfaction on the utilisation of the funds and promised to continue with Federal Government policies aimed at improving the health sector for the well-being of all Nigerians.
He assured that the Federal Government has the capability to make healthcare delivery accessible to every Nigerian, adding that the Federal Government was poised to upgrade the hospitals to world class standard, noting that 52 hospitals have benefitted.
Also speaking, the Acting Medical Director, Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Professor Reuben Eifedeiyi, commended President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration and promised to sustain the standard the hospital has been known for over the years. (Daily Independent)
