Delta State PPRO Bright Edafe
By DIANA OLUWOLE
A middle aged man, popularly known as Mr Ogheneovo has committed suicide by allegedly drinking sniper at his residence Gesimisi Street, Okumagba Layout in Warri, Delta State.
Although no suicide note was discovered, witnesses said his action might not be unconnected with his wife and children who left him few months ago.
According to a resident, Ekete Okon, she alleged that late Ogheneovo’s wife left him in January, 2023, reportedly due to constant drinking which got him drunk and made him beat his wife on several occasions.
The witness further alleged that the wife, who could not condone the abuse, left with her three children and left behind the elder one.
It was also gathered that the deceased had made an attempt to take his life by hanging but was caught in the act by a neighbour.
A friend of the deceased son, named Oghenekvwe, said that the fateful day the deceased made a distressed call to his son, telling him to call back, the son, who was too busy with customers at his shop in Robinson Plaza, returned the call much later.
The report said that the son had to rush home when his father was not picking his calls only to discover his father’s lifeless body on the bed with a sniper by his side.
However, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) Bright Edafe claimed that such an incident had not been reported as at the time of filing this report. (Delta State News Bulletin)
