LP Presidential Candidate Peter Obi
The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has been fingered in the emergence of a fake Peter Obi in Britain, leading to last Friday’s detention of Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, at Heathrow Airport, London.
Obi had been handed a detention note upon his arrival from Nigeria and questioned in connection with the activities of an impersonator, but was released followed loud protests by Nigerians at the airport.
Analysing Obi’s ordeal, a spokesman for his bosom friend, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, wondered why Obi would be arrested when the NIS had his biodata.
The spokesman, Barrister Daniel Bwala, tweeted on Thursday: “One fact is clear, the impersonator was issued the passport by the Nigerian Immigration. They have his bio-data and details about him.”
Bwala advised that “Peter Obi should sue the Nigerian government in court and compel them to smoke the man out and whoever may be using him for the smear campaign.”
News Express reports that Obi has since returned to Nigeria after a successful UK trip and is busy campaigning for his party’s candidates involved in tomorrow’s supplementary election.
