Sen Nwaka exchanging pleasantries with Governor-elect Otti Wednesday in Umuahia
Abia State Governor-elect, Dr. Alex Otti, on Wednesday hosted Senator Emma Nwaka minutes after receiving his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Umuahia, the state capital.
Nwaka, a staunch supporter of Dr. Otti despite a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was personally in attendance as the victorious Labour Party Governorship Candidate received his Certificate of Return during a ceremony at INEC’s Umuahia Office.
He warmly congratulated the Governor-elect, who acknowledged the former Abia PDP Chairman and erstwhile commissioner in his speech.
A source disclosed that both men “later departed for Dr. Otti’s campaign office where they had a tete-a-tete”.
The Governor-elect was said to have, during the meeting, repeated the promise he made during the certificate reception ceremony that he would not fail Abians but would work hard to justify the confidence they have reposed in him.
Nwaka had shortly after Dr. Otti’s victory in the March 18 governorship election issued a statement congratulating him, noting that “the spontaneous jubilation in the streets of Umuahia, Aba and all the nooks and cranies of Abia State eloquently bespeaks the fact that Dr. Otti is the choice of the people.”
The veteran lawyer and politician called for support to enable the incoming Otti Administration to succeed.
“What Dr. Otti owes the people in return is to rewrite their story. I urge Abians from all walks of life and our Diaporans to rally round our governor-elect to ensure the success of his administration for the common good,” he said.
