A 42-year-old man, identified as Sunday Obasuyi has been accused of selling his father, an 82-year-old father to ritualists for N1.8m.
The Magistrate, Bankole Okuwasanmi, has ordered that Sunday Obasuyi, be remanded at the correctional facility in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). Okuwasanmi, handed the order while sitting in a magistrate’s court in Ado-Ekiti.
The prosecutor had alleged that the first defendant, Obasuyi, conspired with Akinniyi and sold his father for N1.8m to the third defendant, Sunday, who was an herbalist.
He noted that the offences contravened Sections 280, 279 and 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
Others suspects to be remanded on the order of the Magistrate, for the kidnapping and killing the 82-year-old Michael Obasuyi, are; Akinniyi (51) and Bobafe Sunday (51)
Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants conspired and kidnapped the aged man on February 1, at about 11am in Agbado-Ekiti, Gbonyin LGA, and that his corpse was, some weeks, later discovered in a shallow grave. (Text, excluding headline: Daily Trust)
