WICKED BANDITS: How gunmen invaded Kaduna community, killing and maiming at will —EYEWITNESS

An eyewitness has given a graphic account of how bandits numbering about 100 launched a deadly attack on Zangan village, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, North-West Nigeria, killing at least 15 persons and leaving several others with various degrees of injury.

The surprise attack which occurred between Monday evening and yesterday morning left over 20 persons missing.

“The gunmen came around 6 on Monday evening,” shooting and killing anybody within sight,” said a villager who narrowly escaped death.

“They killed 15 people, burnt our houses, our grains and even burnt down a church in the village. They burnt down our District Head’s house, including his car; he barely managed to escape. They sacked the whole community with their guns. We have run away from the village,” the man added.

The local government chairman, Mr. Kumai Badu, who confirmed the attack in an interview with newsmen, had described it as “pure wickedness of thegunmen meted on the defenseless villagers.”

The invaders said to be numbering about 100 reportedly operated unchallenged till about 7:00 a.m. yesterday.

Kaura Local Government Area is located in the southern part of Kaduna State and about 220 kilometres away from Kaduna metropolis.

News Express recalls that unknown gunmen had a fortnight ago sacked two villages in the same local government and killed over 20 villagers, mostly women and children, while injuring over 10.
