Eminent lawyer and activist, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), has been nominated and shortlisted for the 5th edition of the prestigious Gani Fawehimi Impact and Integrity Award (GFIIA) as one of the top three candidates for the Outstanding Integrity Awards category.
GFIIA is an annual award instituted by HEDA Resource Centre, with the support of MacArthur Foundation and named in honor of late Human Rights Activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi. The Award is designed to reward acts of integrity, accountability and whistle-blowing to deserving Nigerians of imperturbable characteristic, courage, selflessness and honesty.
The award also aims to encourage, promote, celebrate and protect the uncommon principles of openness, honesty, probity, accountability and transparency in public and private life and whistle-blowing to deserving persons and bodies.
HEDA, in a letter of Notification of Nomination to Adegboruwa, signed by its Chairman, Olanrewaju Suraju, and sighted byNews Express, said that the event would be held by 3pm on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Colossus Hotel, Opebi Ikeja, Lagos and the Awards ceremony preceded by a lecture titled, “The Only Game in Town: Politics and Accumulation in Nigeria”, which would be delivered by Professor Sylvester Odion-Akhaine of the Department of Political Science, Lagos.
“I write on behalf of Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA Resource Centre) to notify you that you were nominated and then shortlisted for the 5th edition of the Gani Fawehinmi Impact and Integrity Awards (#GFIIA2022). Following public voting, you emerged as a top three candidate for the Outstanding Integrity Awards category. We congratulate you for making it this far,” the nomination letter read in part.
According to HEDA, the Board of the Gani Fawehinmi Award is chaired by Prof. Ayo Atsenua and Co-Chaired by Mr Femi Falana (SAN). Other members of the board include: Prof. Itse Sagay, Prof. Uzoguruwa Udombana, Mr Olanrewaju Suraju, Dr Abiola Akiode-Afolabi, Comrade Chuka Achude and Comrade Femi Aborisade.
