Diobu vigilante checkpoint
Security Operatives have occupied a notorious hideout for suspected cultists onAzikiwe street in Mile 2 Diobu Port Harcourtdubbed ‘Cultism Lane’ seven days after a raid of some brothels on the same street.
It was learnt that the raid of the cultists’ den by Police and other sister agencies a few days ago led to the arrest of 50 suspects, just as residents of the area have harped praises on the Rivers State Police Command for dismantling what they refer to, as one of the most notorious criminal hideouts in Port Harcourt.
The development had made the Diobu Vigilante group working under the supervision of the Nigeria Police to establish a checkpoint at ‘cultism lane’ to checkmate a reoccurrence
Meanwhile, ‘cultism lane’, before the raid was a logistics and planning base for suspected cultists in the area.
However, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the raid, while stating that those arrested people found innocent, after preliminary investigation, will be released unconditionally.
It is gathered that the incidence of handset robbery, robbing of passerby money, and harassment of ladies passing along the Azikiwe street have reduced almost drastically after the raid of the area by the Police, and Diobu Vigilance group with other sister agencies. (The Guardian)
