A fire outbreak in the wee hours of Tuesday engulfed the Kano Commodity market, popular known as Kasuwar Singer market located within the Kano Central District amid fear of losses of property.

It was not immediately clear what was responsible for the inferno, but the incident was coming barely five days after a fire destroyed Badume market which left it in its throes of death and destruction.

Eyewitness accounts said men from the Kano Fire Service are already on ground to take control of the raging inferno, but was quick to add “its early to start counting losses.”

However, Mr Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer, of Kano Fire Service could not give full attention to calls made to his verified GSM, as he was heard giving orders to suspected officers and men trying to quench the fire at the scene. (Daily Independent)
