Comrade Victor Ojei, Public Relation Officer with the Delta State Coalition of Civil Societies NGO and Media has raised alarm over the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl (name withheld) in Asaba by her Indian national employer, calling on the Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and the Inspector General of Police to do the needful so as to bring the perpetrator of the heinous crime to book.

In a statement on the saga, Comrade Ojei, popularly called Wong Box in media circles, disclosed that he has been receiving multiple complaints from victims and so have been monitoring cases of exploitation, extortion, intimidation and abuse of office at various police formations in the state, vowing to ensure justice is done in the case of the little girl that was violated by the Indian man, who employed her as a maid just a week back only to forcefully have carnal knowledge of her in a disheartening manner, triggering the alarm that attracted the attention of the Civil Society Organizations.

Ojei, who led security agents and other rights activists to the scene of the crime, disclosed through pictures and video evidence the pains the little girl was passing through in her helpless situation as she could barely walk straight.

“This 17-year-old girl was raped 48 hours ago by an Indian man who employed her last week. We shall not tolerate any cover-up. We can see there are attempts at a cover-up as usual. We call on the Ministry of Justice, the Delta State Government, the Delta State Commissioner of Police and its leadership, the Inspector General of Police, the Police Service Commission, the National Human Rights Commission and all Stakeholders to do the needful. We will present all evidence and the victims if possible to testify.

“We will proceed to send a signed petition to all stakeholders for proper Investigations into our complaints. These corrupt practices are amongst what led to the October 2020 Scam Protest called #Endsars,” Victor Ojei added, alleging further that there were attempts to influence and cover up the case from being prosecuted and that his team will not take any of that.
