Zamfara NUJ Chairman Ibrahim Musa Mai Zare

Political thugs have attacked the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Zamfara State Council, Comrade Ibrahim Musa Mai Zare, threatening to kill any journalist who talks to them about the issue.
The Secretary of the union in the state, Comrade Ibrahim Ahmed Gada, made this known at a press conference held Thursday at the NUJ Secretariat in Gusau, the state capital.
He said the attack was as a result of a disagreement over the renovation of a structure at the NUJ shops, of which the thugs ordered a suspension of work.
The Secretary said: “The matter was reported to the police in which they intervened by sending their men to arrest the situation.
“Working journalists in Zamfara State are in a terrible condition. We call on non-governmental organizations, relevant authorities, and other stakeholders to come to our aide.”
The police are yet to react to the incident.
