At least, three persons have been killed by Lightening in Ndegwu community in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State.
Emeka Mbah from Umuejekubi, Umuahum and Chigbo Odionye from Umuadi Umuogwuta were the identified victims.
A source from the community, who stated this on Tuesday, said the victims and others were busy working at a new site in the community when the incident occurred.
The lightning struck the deceased persons and two others working at the building site but the other two were said to be lucky as they were slightly buried by the thunder.
While the deceased were taken to a nearby hospital by youths of the community, the other two returned to their homes with little bruises.
A reliable source from the community told the Nation that a white ram was earlier noticed moving around the community, indicating a bad omen.
“We saw a white ram moving up and down. This is not a good omen at all. It did not take long before the lightning struck and killed the two youths. Nobody expected the lightning and thunder to kill them. The rain was not much and the lightning was not heavy. We are still wondering what really happened, it’s the first time such will happen,” the source added..
Wives of the two victims, including a nursing mothers, expressed sadness over the development.
The source further disclosed that a similar case was recorded at Umuoba, Orogwe same day when lightning struck an automobile electrician, also known as Edi.
The victim, according to him has already been buried.
