Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has sympathised with the families of persons involved in the boat mishap that occured in Umunnankwo Community, Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state.

As at the time of filling this report, many people whose total number is yet to be ascertained are still unaccounted for, even though search is still ongoing.

Reports have it that the boat occupants were on their way to Nkwo Ogbakuba market when the boat capsized at Umunankwo Ossomala Bridge leading to the drowning of over10 persons.

A statement by the Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, on behalf of the governor said: “This development is still a shock to the government and good people of Anambra State. I sympathize with the families of people involved.”

While regretting the unfortunate incident, Governor Soludo further stated that several interventions have been sent by government to various IDP camps within the State.

He assured that government will continue to do its best to reduce the negative effects of the flood disaster, just as he called for a permanent solution to this yearly occurrence
