Nine persons, including five children of the same parents, on Monday, died under mysterious circumstances in Nagazi, in the Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that five of the victims died on the spot while four others were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors battled to save their lives.
However, a source in the community told our correspondent that the four victims died while receiving treatment.
It will be recalled that four family members died after eating Amala around Mopa, in the Mopa Amuro LGA of the state over the weekend.
Community sources also linked the latest deaths to food poisoning.
A source close to the family said the father of the victims had been arrested as his wife was still receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
The Kogi State Police Command, however, said seven people were confirmed dead, adding that a medical report was being awaited to ascertain the cause of their death.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, told our reporter on Tuesday that a statement would be issued as soon as the medical report was available (The PUNCH: Text, excluding headline)
