An unidentified tricycle rider in Delta State has absconded with the two children that he is being paid monthly to carry to and fro to school on behalf of their parents in Warri city.
A rights activist in the state, Comrade Israel Joe, who has been involved in the search in Asaba on Thursday, said their parents have become disillusioned, having been on the trail of suspects for three days to no avail.
He said the ‘keke man’ as he was fondly called, was engaged for the job having been tested and proven to be of moral probity.
He said he betrayed the confidence of carrying the two children to school until three days ago that his phones were switched off and no one knew his whereabouts.
He said: “He picked them from school about three days ago and as we speak, he disappeared with the children and his phones have been off. Don’t trust your keke man please. Who knows what he may have done with the kids. Sold them for ritual purposes that are now of high demand by politicians.”
He lamented that the suspect swiftly relocated from the house where he used to stay.
He said the case has been reported at the nearest police station and detectives have been dispatched.
He blamed parents and guardians who usually formed busy schedules for not taking their children to school.
“Cases of people getting missing in the society on a daily basis have assumed alarming rates. We can’t afford to pretend that all is well.
“Do everything possible to handle your children all by yourself. No one is to be trusted. Those who do not have cars should follow their children to school by public means,” he added. (New Telegraph)
