Confusion weekend enveloped the Nasarawa State University, Keffi,(NSUK) following the resolve of the varsity’s chapter of theAcademic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)to continue its strike, which defied the directive of the university to resume academic activities on Monday, September 26.
NSUKat itsSpecialManagement meeting held on Friday announced the reopening of theuniversity.
The directive is coming amid legal tussle between the Federal government and ASUU with a court in Abuja ordering ASUU to call off its seven-month old strike. But ASUU has appealed the ruling.
TheNSUKin the wake of the legal contesthas announced resumptionwhich directed students, academic and non-academic staff of the institution to resume.
A top staff of the university who spoke to News Express today, Saturday, September24 said there was confusion over the directive.
He said as some of the staff were hoping to comply with the directive, ASUU announced that it would not resume, arguing that the national body of ASUU has not called of the lingering strike.
With this development which has left students and staff in confusion, it could not be ascertained as at press time if the school will remainclosed.
“As it is now, I don’t know if we are going to go to work on Monday”, the staff who does not want his name in print, said.
