APGA Presidential flag bearer Umeadi
Over 500 members of Labour Party on Saturday decamped to All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Okene local government area of Kogi state.
Speaking while receiving the decampees, the Kogi State Chairman of APGA, Mr abdulazeez Arikora, urged them and other party faithfulto work hard for the victory of the party in the 2023 general elections.
According to him, APGA is a national party and not regional as perceived in some quarters, adding that as a progressive party, it has contributed to the growth of democracy in Nigeria.
He said that the party has fielded credible candidates in the forthcoming elections and described the acceptance of the party as an indication that it was gaining more ground in the state.
The chairman pointed out that the presidential candidate of the party, Prof. Peter Umeadi,was a man of proven integrityand has wealth of experience to move the country to the Promised Land.
He said that APGA was doing well in Anambra and other parts of the country and urged Nigerians to support Prof. Umeadi’s candidaturefor improved security ,economy and dividends of democracy.
The APGA State Chairman also noted that the era of rigging elections has gone as the adoption of electronic transmission of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was a milestone in the political history of Nigeria.
According to him, the door of the party was open for progressive-minded people of Kogi State to join to move the state to enviable height.
In his contribution, the state Publicity Secretary, Kabir Shogudo, said that APGA was committed to tackling the present insecurity crisis the country was facing if given the mandate in 2023.
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Isah Momoh, said the leadership qualities of the Kogi Central APGA Senatorial candidate, Moses Lawal, endeared them to the party and assured the party of their total support and loyalty.
Momoh also promised to mobilize massive votes for the election of Lawal to represent Kogi Central at the National Assembly.
