How Home-based Super Eagles beat Burkina Faso in 2016 CHAN Qualifier

The Home-based Super Eagles of Nigeria yesterday evening at the Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, defeated visiting Stallions of Burkina Faso 2-0 in the first leg of a 2016 CHAN qualifier.

Bature Yaro broke down the stubborn Burkinabes in the 24th minute, with skipper Gbolahan Salami increasing the tally in the 76th minute through a penalty awarded after Ezekiel Bassey was fouled inside the visitors’ vital area.

The return leg will be played in Ouagadougou on October 25 with the overall winners advancing to the final tournament in Rwanda in 2016.

News Express reports that the Championship for African Nations (CHAN) is the version of the Africa Cup of Nations reserved exclusively for Arican footballers based in Africa.
