‘Victor Moses will not play friendly or qualifiers for Super Eagles’

A source very close to on-loan Chelsea player, Victor Moses has told News Express that the star has been deliberately avoiding playing for Nigeria.

Victor Moses has not featured for the Super Eagles in any significant match since last year’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Our source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that Moses reached the decision last year after getting injured during a national assignment.

“Moses felt he lost his place at Liverpool where he was loaned to in 2013 from Chelsea because of an injury he picked up while playing for Nigeria that year. He feels unhappy that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) did not so enough to reach out to him to lend emotional support while he was injured and frozen out of the Liverpool starting 11. It was during one of his visits in Nigeria that he told some family members and close friends that he would never feature in any friendly or qualifier for Nigeria, but would only make himself available to the team once they have qualified for a major tournament,” our source revealed.

Moses could not be immediately reached for comments. The 25-year-old Nigerian international winger joined West Ham United on a season-long loan on September 1, 2015. He had earlier signed a new four-year contract, which will keep him at Chelsea until 2019.

Moses made his West Ham debut on 14 September in a 2-0 home win against Newcastle United. He was named Man of the Match. In his second game, on September 19, away against Manchester City, Moses scored his first West Ham goal in a 2-1 win.
