Amanyanabo of Bolo, King Acheseinimie M Frank JP Bolo-Luku VIII with the BSN delegation
The construction of a befitting Palace for the Amanyanabo of Bolo in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State has been described as a step in the right direction.
It has also been described as a laudable gesture by the Ogu/Bolo Local Government and worthy of emulation by other Local Governments in Rivers State and indeed in the Federation to upgrade the Chieftaincy/Traditional Institution.
These remarks was made by the Chairman of the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), Rivers/Bayelsa Area, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno, over the weekend at Bolo when he led Executives of the Area to visit the Site of the Palace under construction after addressing the St Michaels Christ Army Church of Nigeria, Bolo for BSN activity.
Elder Ayo-Tamuno said: “In the past the Traditional Institution has been degraded as an institution that is of no importance in the place of governance due to the near non availability of a functional palace or office to operate.”
He said the kind gesture of the Ogu/Bolo Local Government Chairman, Barr Vincent Nemieboko who during his electioneering campaign to build a Palace for the Ancient Stool of Bolo and the subsequent Laying of Foundation Stone was highly commendable
The Chairman, who is also the immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Rivers State Council pointed out that this gesture was capable of changing the narrative of the Chieftaincy Institution to a vital institution to provide quality leadership at the grassroots level.
Elder Ayo-Tamuno, therefore, called on other Local Government Chairmen in Rivers State to undertake similar projects to improve the Chieftaincy Institution to play its natural role as the custodian of our culture and tradition.
He stressed the importance of a conducive office and residential/palace for traditional rulers, pointing out that such would aid in establishing the desired peace at the grassroots.
Speaking while conducting the team round the Palace Site, the Amanyanabo of Bolo, King Acheseinimie M. Frank JP Bolo-Luku VIII, said that the Complex has the Palace/Residential, Conference Hall and Guest House.
King Frank who was so delighted with the project said that when completed would add to his ultimate service delivery to the people and thanked the team for finding time to visit the site.
