Governor Seyi Makinde
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has lifted the no-work-no-pay ban placed on workers of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.
The Guardian gathered that Makinde lifted the sanction with immediate effect and requested the workers’ unions on campus to liaise with the university management to harmonise their demands and present them to the government with the promise to attend to them.
According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Students Union Government (SUG) of the university, Love Gabriel Michael, the meeting was held at the private residence of the governor.
The students lauded Makinde for the step.
Meanwhile, the coalition of Yoruba self-determination groups has said that it will tomorrow, July 26, 2022, join the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)-led protest over the lingering strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
According to a statement by its Secretary-General, Dr. Steve Abioye, this was part of resolution of the group after its meeting at the weekend in Ibadan. (The Guardian)
