No fewer than 20 federal Road safety Corps (FRSC) Junior Course One students graduated from the Command and Staff College, Udi in Enugu on Thursday, July 14, 2022.

The three months intensive course, which involved courses in education, drills, operational communication and command, administration, among others, were crowned by major study tours within Enugu and Awka Ibom States.

In an address during the graduation, the Corps Marshal of FRSC, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, lauded the students for being exceptional during the course, adding, “I did not receive any single complaint of misbehavior during the course.”

Oyeyemi added: “The Superintendent Route Commanders (SRCs) for this course were chosen from all the geo-political zones of the country and cut across all departments within the corps.

“The graduating students today have done exceptionally well and we expect that you share what you have learnt and experience with other personnel in your departments, units and commands so that they gain from it also.”

The Corps Marshal noted that the Corps has continued to expand and by the Course three, it would be taking students from other African countries, especially the Anglophone countries.

“By the grace of God, the academy will be hosting its first matriculation at the Academy as it turns to a full-fledged academy and having its first JAMB admission.

“We have expanded to the 774 local governments apart from our Zebra, Outpost, Unit and Command offices scattered all over the country and our number is growing to ensure we deliver on our mandate to ensure that Nigerians are safe on the roads.

“I must appreciate President Muhammadu Buhari and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, for supporting the Corps tremendously.”

In a goodwill message, Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State commended FRSC for producing high level man-power needs of the Corps, which is meant to ensure safety of all Nigerians.

“Enugu State will continue to partner and participate actively in FRSC activities in its Academy and support the state’s FRSC Command to ensure safety of lives on our roads,” Ugwuanyi, represented by Prof. Uchenna Eze, the Commissioner for Education, said.

Speaking, the Commandant of the College, Mr Chidiebere Nkwonta, said that the students of the course had been thoroughly tested both in character and learning, adding that they had performed exceptionally well during the course.

Nkwonta, who is an Assistant Corps Marshal, said: “They have been thoroughly accessed and found worthy to be graduated.

“I will also use this time to thank the lecturing and directing staff of the College, as well as Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the GOC of 82 Division of the Nigeria Army, for his continuous assistance during the course.”

The best graduating student, SRC Jamila Iliyasu, thanked the Corps Marshal and other authorities of FRSC for making the training possible and “ensuring we got the necessary exposure.”

Highlights of the event included the commissioning of the Boboye Oyeyemi Drive within the FRSC Academy in Udi, as well as the inauguration of FRSC Museum and Archives.

The other activities included the conferment of pass and presentation of certificates and awards to the graduating students.
