A Kano magistrates’ court sitting in Minjibir has remanded a 22-year-old woman in a correctional centre for sharing a nude video of her ex-husband on her WhatsApp status.
The prosecutor told the court that the offence was contrary to Section 392 of the Penal Code.
While responding to the charge, the accused woman, Nafisa Lawan, told the court that she only set her ex-husband as the only viewer of the WhatsApp status, and thus no one watched the video apart from him.
She said, “Before I posted the video, I made sure that I set it in a way that he will be the only one that will see it. I don’t know how it got out.”
The Magistrate, Salisu Haruna Danbatta, ordered the plaintiff to bring the video to the court, as well as those who had watched it, and adjourned to June 21. (Daily Trust)
